We cross the border to the Northern Territory, the loneliest and thinest settled federal state of Australia. Here live fewer than 1% of the population of Australia.
In Erldunda we leave the Stuart Highway to the west and drive over the Lasseter Highway to the "Uluru Nationalpark". 32km west of AYers Rock we visit the deeply fissured mountains of the Olgas.
The Ayers Rock is one of the highlights of our trip across Australia. Because the iron in the stone the rock gleams reddish everytime and changes his shade of colour dramatically by sunset.
