On freeway 8 we reached San Diego at noon. San Diego was the place of "burth" of California. The place was the first which was discovered by the portuguese sailor Cabrillo on his voyage to north. Therefore we visited the Cabrillo National Monument, where we had a beautiful panorama over the city.
After this we drove back to the city and to the peninsula Coronado Peninsula. The greatest attraction was the Hotel Coronado. The lodging was built at 1888, its 700 rooms were at first one of the largest, luxurious and most known of the west coast. Among many famous guests (Charles Lindbergh) enjoyed the hotel itself also movie stars like Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and Peter O’Toole. The magnificent scenery was used besides in some movies (for example "Some like it hot").
