Further on along the coast to the north.
In "Durness" we branch off to A-838. After 2km we reach "Smoo Caves". Comming from the parking place at the road we enter by steps the entrance of the caves. Archeological researches have brought some hints that "Smoo Caves" was populated 6000 years ago.
Some times later we reach "Betty Hill". At noon we eat in a pretty restaurant. For the first time we try the scottish national food "Haggis". Haggis is a kind of pudding. For this the stomach of a sheep is filled by entrails, onions and oat-flour and so on.
Afternoon we reach "John O'Groats". John O'Groats is a magic name - a location, international known for its situation at the "End of Street", like the most northern point of Great Britans four "Corners" . But it is not only the geographical situation, which makes this northern community so famous. The region of John O'Groats has a glorious coast with cliffs, rock columns and caves.
At the evening we start by ferry to "Orkney Isles" to "St.Margret's Hope".
